Announcement has been made of the marriage of Thomas Haywood Manuel of Winchester, formerly of Rappahannock, to Miss Mildred Pitcock, also of Winchester. The ceremony took place at Hagerstown, Md., Saturday, April 15.
Mrs. Manuel holds a secretarial position at Wender’s Dress Shop and Mr. Manuel is employed at the power company in Winchester, where the couple will make their h ome.
Mr. Manuel is the son of Hayv oc 1 Manuel of Hampton Roads and tlie brother of Mrs. Helen •Tonkins of Rappahannock.
Chicken House Burned
A chicken ho se of Raymond ■Ti-nk’n-, living on the farm of Mr. and Mrs. R. F Wood near Sperrvville, was destroyed hv fire Sunday afternoon. The Jenkins family was away from home at the time, and the fire was discovered about 2:30 in the afternoon by Mr. Wood who notified the Sperryville Fire Department.
The fire was prevented from spreading to the dwelling. The hen house was empty at the time of the fire.
Fire Company Orders
ICOO-Feet New Hose
At the regular business ' meeting of the Rappahannock Volunteer Fire Company, held April 12, the firemen voted to purchase 1000-feet of 2,£-inch fire hose. The company has been in great need of hose to replace the present hose, which was badly worn.
