Monday morning is referred to as Blue Monday because it follows Saturday and Sunday of vacation.) Think of those poor teachers: they’ve had three months of no punching the time-clock, no dear little cherubs to coax into learning, and no temptations to pick up a couple of these s&me little cherubs and bash their heads together. But Tuesday morning they are back in the grind—up to their ears. Ah! ain’t it pitiful! It seems a shame that people have to work for a living!
Now, I have real sympathy for the school children. After the summer of no clock-watching, it’s back in a stuffy room to go, waiting for three o’clock. True, they've had duties and jobs to do all summer, but there wasn’t that plague’ element of time and bells clocking each hour. You could work a little faster, finish the chores, and get a reprieve to go to the swimming hole. Now, it’s back in school. The*! youngsters will, no doubt, be glad to see their friends and enjoy the comradship of games, but work is <work, and it’s hard for the first couple of weeks.
