The Misses Roberts of Washington who bought twenty acres adjoining “Peaceful Valley” are having a driveway constructed and plan to build a summer cottage soon,

Miss Mildred Holmes, also of Washington who bought property from Roy and Ed Jenkins, has had an attractive log cabin built above the home of Ed Jenkins, with a breathtaking view of the Sperryville Valley. A new driveway has been bull-dozed up the hill. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hofer of Washington, D. C., who bought a plot of 45 acres opposite Atha Brown, have had a driveway dug out and are planning a summer home overlooking Sperryville. Mr. Hofer is an official of the Office of Price Stabilization in Washington. Further improvements in the highways have been made by the Highway Department, including a general leveling, a new bridge over Hazel River and a new access by a new bridge over the Thornton at the old Estes Mill on the Lee Highway above Sperryville, thanks to the cooperation ©f the county commissioners and the property owners concerned. Some one has even suggested a new street car line from Sperryville to Jenkins Hollow, but thus far the promoters have not been able to count up enough potential traffic to justify the expense of construction and to pay tbe conductor for his .trouble of running back and forth. Illness has prevented Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Rasin from further development of their cottage and property near the Pillars, which is contemplated. They are from Czechoslovakia and now live in Chevy Chase section.
