In the event that mature exists on the tract, the Virginia Forest Service will mark and estimate the trees ready for harvesting. A fee of 60e per thousand board feet for sawtimber marked or 15c per standard cord for pulpwood marked is charged for this service. On completion of the marking work, the owner receives a report showing the number of trees marked by species and the volume of timber marked for cutting on the area.
