There are no new plans for building schools in Rappahannock was the opinion of Supt. Q. D Gasque at the / Flint Hill P-TA meeting Friday night, January 16.
Before a group of about 80 interested parents, Mr. Gasque made the flat statement, “There will be no school improvement in the county until the people show that they want it”
Progress toward a new high school building stands as of December, 1950, said Mr. Gasque, when die deadline on the Battle Fund gifts set up a program for the county: to build a consolidated high school at Flat Woods with the eventual aim of three elementary schools, one at Sperryville, one at Washington, and one at Flint Hill, and primary schools at More convenient points throughout the county.
In reply to Flint Hill parents’ plea _, for \a new building, Mr. Gasque agreed that there was a sore need for better facilities, but he maintains, with the school board, that the most urgent need as of this date is the «*high school building, for such would free the Washington school building for elementary grade rooms and relieve some of the crowded conditions.
The present plan could be changed, stated Mr. Gasque. Since the Board of Supervisors refused to accept the plan for building of the. high school at Flat Woods when it entailed a 15-cent increase in the levy, the funds in gift to Rappahannock have Jain dormant and ajga- now approximately $130,006.
