County Schools Closed
To Prevent "Flu”
Supt. Q. D. Gasque and Dr. J. P. Snead, after a consultation on Saturday, decided to close the Rappahannock county schools for a week. Dr. Snead stated that the “flu” epidemic in the county was becoming serious among pupils and teachers. Closing the schools would be one means by which a spread of the disease might be checked. You have heard the old adages, “It never rains, but it pours,” and also “The harder the storm the sooner it is over.” Well, both of these seem to apply to the school situation, because the bfoiler in the Rappahannock High School blew up on Friday, therefore only "one week’s vacation will be needed at this school. The boiler is being replaced this week and unless further complications set in the school bells will tole. all over the county Monday, January 26, as a summons to pupils and teachers to return to work.
