Silas Marcellos Smith
Funeral services were held for Silas Marcellus Smith, who died Friday, January 9 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, at Boston, from the Geest Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, January H with Rev. S. Felton Cartejj conducting the services. Members’' of Mt. Lebanon church choir sang several hymns with Mrs. W. T. Beale at the organ. Interment was in the Butler family section of the cemetery at Boston.
Mr. Smith, 88 years of age, was the son of the late Fayette Smith and the late Mrs. Mary Jean Smith of Rappahannock County.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter Mrs. Frank Butler of Boston; one son, Lynwood Smith of Boston; Five half sisters, Mrs. Marvin Weaver, Culpeper; Mrs. Jean Brown, •‘Washington, D. C.: Mrs. Dick Burke, Boston; Mrs. P. W. Brown, Boston; Mrs. Mora Weaver, of Washington, D. C.; one half brother, Jessie Smith, Boston.
Active pallbearers were Ashby Thornhill, Lee Payne, Paul Kernes, James Butler, J. B. Burke, Franklin Butler, and Louis Smith.
Those serving as honorary pallbearers were Carlyle Brown, Granville Smith, Harry Brown, Edward Hawkins, Robert Hawkins, Dan Weaver,' Edmund Burke, Harry Burke, Billy Brown, Joseph Johnson, Russell Deane, Wallace Weaver, Clarence Hume, Clarence Scott, Stonewall Kilby, Gordon Thornhill and others.
