Fire Company Plans
Activities
A joint meeting of offers o£ the auxiliary and Rappahannock Volunteer Fire Company was held Thursday, January 15, at the Clerk’s office, Washington.
Plans were discussed for the coming year’s program. A desire was expressed to organize a county-wide baseball team to be sponsored by the three fire companies of the county. One suggestion was a spelling bee between the three fire companies. Ariother plan was for a county-wide carnival to be owned by the fire companies and held at Sperryville, Amissville ana Washington , some time during the summer on dates to be decided on by the companies.
An expression was voiced to hold a joint meeting soon with the other, fire companies in the county to discuss these suggestions.
Two other suggestions made at the meeting were to try to get a college glee club for some date in the spring, and to present a local talent or amateur contest at a future date.
4-H Clubs Plan
Special Newspaper Issue
Under the leadership of Miss Lelia Gentry, a member of Washington 4-H dub, the county clubs plan to publish a special issue of Rappahannock News during the 4-H dub week in March. Miss Gentry, of Flint Hill, is collecing information on the history of 4-H club work in the county. She would appreciate receiving news clippings, programs of events, pictures, and any other data concerning 4-H clubs and members in past years.
