District Supervisors
To Meet at Va. Beach
Proposals for a water conservation program for Virginia will be aired at opening sessions of the annual meet* ing of the Virginia association of soil conservation district supervisors at Virginia Beach, January 27. C. E. Busby, soil conservationist for the Seal Conservation Service, who is stationed in California, and who has aided other states in setting •up such a program, will be on hand for the discussions.
Also to appear the first day is Giles Miller, Jr., president of the Culpeper National Bank, who will discuss watershed protection on a community level; and T. G. Ragsdale, Brandy, supervisor of the Culpeper soil conservation district, who will give a brief report on activities on: the 25 districts in Virginia.
Luncheon speaker will be Joseph' H. Cochrane, Jr., Staunton, supervisor of the Shenandoah Valley district, who is the 1952 Virginia winner of the soil conservation speaking contest sponsored by the Spencer Chemical Company.
A tour of the Norfolk Navy Yard is scheduled for the afternoon. Dr. R. M. Salter, chief of the Soil Conservation Service, Washington, D. C., will be the principal speaker at the evening banquet
On January 28, the group will hear committee reports and elect officers. Registration will begin the afternoon of January 26. This will be the 14th annual meeting.
