Miss Mary M. Wood will serve as chairman of this year’s fund raising campaign in Rappahannock County for the Children’s Home Society of Virginia. Mr. Richard H. Catlett, president of the Children’s Home Society said; “We are indeed fortunate to have Miss Wood to head up the campaign this year.” Since 1900 when the Society was organized it has rendered services to more than 8,000 Virginia children. Last year the Society received into care 209 babies and placed into adoptive homes 194. This was a 30% increase over the services rendered in 1963. Even with the increase in services rendered, over 100 requests for help were refused because at the time service was needed the Society did not have the resources to furnish the help. There is a definite need for increased services throughout Virginia, therefore there is a growing need for additional funds,, to take care of more homeless babies. These infants must look to the people of Rappahannock County and the other citizens of Virginia for help. We hope everyone will give generously this year.
