Gross $11,744
Charlie Compton, Treasurer of Amissville Fire Com pany, reports the gross receipt from the annual carnival held in August to be $11, - 744.27. The community and fire department extend appreciation to all who assisted in this endeavor. C. H. Davis of Amissville, who was awarded the grand prize, a 65 Valiant, has donated his old automobile,a 1958 Ford, to the fire company, to sell or dispose of as they see fit and the proceeds will go to the fire company.
Teachers’ Reception at
Washington Elementary
The Washington Elementary School Parent-Teachers Association will hold a reception Friday, August 27 for the teachers of that school. The reception will be held at the school at 2:30 p.m., and at this time the new teachers, Mrs. Eunice K. Knight and Mrs. Arthalinda P. Quaintance will be introduced. All school patrons are invited to attend. Parents who have children entering the school for the first time are especially urged to come meet the teachers and get acquainted with the school
