The toll of the school bells will summon some 1,100 odd students back to the seven schools in RappahannockCoun ty on Monday morning, August 30. Dismissal the first day will be at 2:30 p.m. The following day, Tuesday, will be a full day for all students. Teachers have been at work since August 23 with meetings, work days and preparations for school opening.
4-H Hog Show
Winners Announced
Martha Lou O’Bannon of Woodville placed 4th with a pen of three in the 180 - 200 lb. Class, U. S. #1 at the Junior Market Hog Show and Sale held Monday in Orange.' C. G. Thornhill, Jr. of Boston placed third and fourth, singles class, 180-200 lbs. Both groups of pigs were bred by owners and were of Yorkshire breed from the Sears 4-H show chain in the program which has been functioning in the county for twelve or fourteen years. Lots of shows sold for $27.25 a hundred weight and were purchased by Shen-Valley meating packers. Philip Frazer of Orange exhibited the Grand and Reserve champion in singles class. Billy Towner, Grand Champion, pen of three. A young lady from Albemarle showed Reserve Champion, pen of three. There were 84 hogs in the Show. Arden Huff, Association Extension, Husbandman at V. P. I. was judge.
