Artists Invited to
Exhibit at Culpeper
All Rappahannock County artists are invited to exhibit in the fourth annual Culpeper Art Fair to be held on Saturday, August 28, 1965, on the Courthouse lawn from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In case of rain, adults will exhibit in the nearby Fire Company - Rescue Squadron Building and the juniors in the Municipal Building. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. Professor Horace Day, head of the art department at Mary Baldwin College, and Dick Cos sitt, art critic for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, will judge the exhibits in six classes - oil (including encaustic, casein, polymers, and college), watercolors and pas tels, mixed media, sumi-e (Oriental watercolors), draw ings and prints, and photography.
. Ribbons will be presented to both adults and juniors in all passes. 'Cash prizes will be presented to the winners of three special classes - theme paint ing, fantasy, and portrait. For the best painting on the theme, "Virginia Seasons”, both adult and junior winners will be awarded their respec tive jackpot prizes, minus 50 per cent for the library book fund. Each artist is limited to one entry in this category. No advance entry blanks for exhibits are necessary, Ert tries will be received at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the fair. The adult entry fee will be $1 for each painting. The junior entry fee will be 25 cents for each picture. Junior entries must be framed in order to be judged. All proceeds go to the Culpeper Library for purchasing new books. Guest artists will exhibit and demonstrate craft work on the grounds throughout the day.
