Mrs. Lucy Putnam '
Mrs. Lucy Frances Putnam, 77, of Flint Hill, died Tuesday August 17, in Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal. She was widow of Edward Putnam and daughter of the late Phillip and Nannie Gooch Grimsley. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Nannie Weaver and Mrs. Katie Pearson of Hume, Mrs. Alice Pullen of Flint Hill, Mrs. Ethel Whitmer of Annandale, Mrs. Evelyn Megeath of Front Royal and Mrs. Jennie Haynes of Amissville; one son, Earl Putnam of Amissville; twenty grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Herbert Foster, Lyle Rector, Emory Russell, Thomas Eastham, W G. Eastham and Sam Hall. A funeral service was held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Roys ton Funeral Home at Marshall with interment at Orlean Cemetery.
Mrs. Lloyd Atkins
Mrs. Martha Carolina Atkins, 94, of Sperryville, widow of Lloyd Atkins, died Friday, August 20, 1965 at her residence. Daughter of the late Jonas Atkins and the late Sal Dodson Atkins, she was a native of Rappahannock county.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lelia Dodson, Miss Sallie Atkins and Mrs. Dolly Pullen, all of Sperryville; and Mrs. Blanche Atkins of Flint Hill; one son, Lee Atkins of Sperryville; one brother, Ather Atkins of Illinois; two sisters, Mrs. Venie Jenkins and Mrs. Tenie Darnell, both of Washington, Virginia; 16 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
A graveside funeral service! was held Sunday, August 22,j at 1;00 p. m. in Sperryville Cemetery, Elder Wayne Richards conducting the last rites.
Pallbearers were Elmer Atkins, Franklin Brown, John Brown, Walter Dodson, Dolin Jenkins and Roy Leake.
Arrangements were handled by Geest Funeral Parlors, Inc.
