At Culpeper Station
The eighth annual Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association bull feeding test at the Culpeper test station got underway October 4. Forty purebred breeders, who are members of Virginia BCIA, consigned 49 Angus, 30 Hereford, 5 Charolais, and 3 Shorthorn bulls to the 140day feed lot gain test and sale. The bulls were officially weighed on test on October 4, and will end the test on February 21. The sale is scheduled for March 11, 1966. “These bulls all grade fancy and choice and exceeded the preweaning adjusted average daily gain minimum of 1.9 and 2.00 pounds for non-creep and creep-fed bulls respectively. The Angus bulls had an average adjusted average daily gain of 2.17 pounds, adjusted 205-day weight of 500 pounds, and grade of 13,” savs A. L.
