A few weeks ago two empty dump trucks, one following the other, raced past me in the same spot as those did in April. I glanced at my speedometer which was registering 55 mph. For several miles I followed these trucks at 65 mph and was able to keep in sight of them until they left Route 211.
I can cite another incident as late as November 5, 1965, at 5; 15 p.m. I know for a fact that this empty truck (not a dump truck) drove at speeds of 65 and 70 mph from Amissville to top of Jordan’s Hill. This truck turned right at Ben Venue. Trucker needs to become better informed before he makes such statements as “we operate in full conformance with all speed laws". The “we* in this statement needs to be clarified. I judge that he is not one of the “we* who sit behind the steering wheels of dump trucks. It is my belief that most of the people who do much driving cannot truthfully say that they operate in full conformance with all speed laws.

Dear Editor;
I was delighted to see such enthusiastic and widespread response to my letter-to-the editor urging action on zoning. It was reassuring to note that many people in the county do md&ea care about the preservation of the county’s natural beauty and the orderly development of business, commercial and industrial zones. I don't know whether the zoning bill ultimately will be passed or not. It is, as I said before, understandably difficult for many people to accept controls of any kind.
