Donation Day For
Crip. Children’s Hosp.
The 1965 Donation Day for the Crippled Children’s Hospital will be Tuesday, November 23. At this time an appeal is made to all Virginians tc share in a program to restore these crippled children to physical health and usefulness,
The Hospital holds quarterly orthopedic and plastic clinics in January, April, July anc October. Previously treats and newly referred patients are examined. An average oi one hundred patients are seer at each of the orthopedic clinics. The Hospital follows all orthopedic and plastic patients until they are eighteen years old.
We enclose a picture oi “Tammy", one of our patients. Tammy has had four admissions and hospital stays at Crippled Children’s Hospital, She first came to this hospital when she was four years told and unable to walk. Her diagnosis was cerebral palsy with inability to walk. During her various hospitalizations she has had operations on the tight spastic nerves and muscles. Tamrpy has worked very hard trying to walk in Physical Therapfcy during each hospital treaty ment. She was here as a patient the last time in 1965. On this admission she was old enough to fit with long-leg braces and special shoes, and was taught to walk with braces and shoes plus crutches in Physical Therapy. It has been a long haul over the years for Tammy, but now that she is a big girl we feel that she will be able to continue her walking with braces, shoes and crutches. In September she started to school and this bright, attractive child is hav ing no difficulty with her schooling. It is the hope of her parents and the nurses and doctors that in the years to come she will be able to walk without the support of long'leg braces.
