I have received a number of letters this week and last, many of them extremely well written and thought-provoking. If you wish your letter published, come in and sign them. It is gratifying to know the citizenry of the county is interested and alert to its problems and needs and want to speak out on their views. This is healthy.

Dear Editor: The recent letter of Trucker blasting Mr. Harris for his “emotional allegation that our vehicles are racing on the highways" causes me to speak up in defense of Mr. Harris’ allegation, for I make the same allegation.
I have traveled Route 211 from Washington to Warrenton for thirteen years, and I am quite aware of the racing empty dump trucks on this stretch of road. This is not a new situation, but perhaps Mr. Harris is just learning about it since the rock quarry in the Flint Hill neighborhood began operation. As a whole, truck drivers are good drivers, and all dump trucks don’t race, but many of them do. When empty dump trucks, one following closely behind another, pass passenger cars which are driving 55 tpph, the trucks are racing, I tdHnJc. This has happdrt#d rriahy times to me in the past. In April, 1965, an empty dump truck followed by a red pick-up truck, raced past me after terrorizing me with his reckless driving for almost a mile before he was able to pass.
