John W. Johnson

John William Johnson, 76, of Hagerstown, Md. died November 2, 1965 at Washington County Maryland Hospital. He was a native of Sperryville, Rappahannock County, son of the late Henry L. and Mary E, (Shenk) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mans Bible Class, Carpenters local 340, Odd Fellows and! Gilead Encampment and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War 1. Survivors include hisvwife, Mrs. May Irene Johnson; ihree daughters, Mrs. Virginia G. Bartles and Mrs. Helen E. White, both of Hager stowTi, and Mrs. Betty Jane Myers of Greencastle, Pa.; two sister^ Miss Mamie Johnson a^nd Mrs. Betsy Harrell, Sperryville; two brothers, Lawrence E. Johnson of Front Royal and Oscar C. Johnson, Zanesville, Ohio; and six grandchildren. A funeral service was held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Rouzer Funeral Home with the Re\i G. Bartow Harris officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

Mrs. Julia Ada Wilson, 75, of Alexandria and Orange, died Saturday Nov. 6, 1965 in an Alexandria hospital after a long period of illness. Funeral services weje held at 2 p.m. Monday from Geest Funeral Chapel in Culpeper conducted by Rev. Charles Kindred of Amissville, with burial in Fairview cemetery, Culpeper.

A native of Rappahannock County, Mrs. Wilson was daughter of the late Solomon and Nan Webster Thorn. Her husband, Thurman J. Wilson, died in 1961.

She is survived by four sons, William Wilson of Orlean; Thurman, jr., Thomas and Russell Wilson, all of Orange; three daughters, Mrs. Ben Knighting, and Mrs. Francis Mowbray, both of Alexandria, and Mrs. Acrey Dodson of Viewtown; three sisters, Mrs Lula Martin of Culpeper; Mrs. Willie Spicer and Mrs. Lillie Romine, both of Castleton; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
