High on the agenda of the January Rappahannock County Board Of Supervisor's meeting held Friday at the courthouse were school construction and the salaries of- county officials. Sub-division exceptions, parking lot for county employees, livestock claims and current bills filled out the business. Salary increases have been requested by the Treasurer and deputy, Commissioner of Revenue and deputy. Commonwealth’s Attorney and secretary, Sheriff and Custodian of the jail. The Sheriff’s office also requested a full time deputy and a request was made for a full time secretary who would work in the offices of the Commonwealth's Attorney and Sheriff. Tentative increases have been approved by the State Compensation Board in Richmond, and are as follows: Treasurer $5250, an increase of $250; Treasurer’s deputy $3120, an increase of $360; Commissioner of Revenue $4700, an increase of $300; Commissioner of Revenue’s deputy $3120, an increase of $240; Sheriff $4800, aifcincrease of $400; Custodian $J®00, an increase of $180; Commonwealth’s Attorney $4400, an increase of $400. A full^ time deputy for the Sheriff’s department with a salary of $3600 and portion of salary of secretary $1800; Commonwealth’s portion of secretary $1800, an increase of $480. Choice in ’66 Program
. Jfee .1966 voluntary ..wheat program offers several options to farmers so they ca.n best plan their individual operations, according to James E. Warren, Chairman of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) State Committee.
The options include planting wheat on all allotment acres, diverting allotment acres from production to conserving uses for’payment, overplanting the allotment by up to 50 percent and storing the excess production for bad crop years. Substituting wheat for feed grains or feed grains for wheat Farmers should investigate each of the options to see which is best for their own farms, Warren said. Full details of the program are avaiF able at ASCS County Offices. Mr. Warren said the signup period extends from January 17 to April 1, 1966 in Virginia.
