Horticulture Meeting
The fruit growers of Virginia will gather at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke for their Seventieth Annual Meeting on January 16-19. Among those present will be Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jones and L. V. Merrill of Washington and Herbert Foster, Flint Hill. An important matter of bus ness will be advertising Virginia apples in order to meVr. the challenge of larger national apple crops. A review of harvest labor problems in 1965 will be given and the problem will be discussed in reference to the future. Peach growers in a special session will consider the peach orchard of the future— new peach products--better handling methods and how others promote their peaches. Virginia Extension and Research Personnel and growers will consider present problems as they relate to more efficient production methods of the future. The meeting will be of great value to Virginia Fruit Growers in keeping abreast of the changes taking place in the Nation’s fruit industry.
