missioner of Revenue are paid half by the state and half by the county., The salaries in the office of Sheriff are paid two-thirds by the state and one-third by the county. The total cost of these increases to the county would be $3008.33. Though these requests have been tentatively approved by the State Compensation Board they failed to meet with approval of the local supervisors and the Rappahannock Supervisors have requested a hearing with the Compensation Board. When the hearing is held in Richmond, the county officers concerned and the members of the Board of Supervisors will meet with the Compensation Board. School construction was discussed at length with Mr. Robert Leonard of the Warren -Rappahannock School Board present to present plans for immediate construction and discuss future needs concerning facilities. The Supervisors had previously approved an addition to Rappahannock County High School which would cost $110,000. This would include four classrooms and a Vocational Agriculture shop. The shop program has had increasing enrollment and in order to take care of expansion of the shop program the Board approved $125,000 for the addition rather than the original $110,000. This addition is designed to take care of the complete integration of the high school which must be done by 1967. This entails taking care of students who are now sent to high schools in adjoining counties.
No action was taken on elementary school construction, but two plans for construction were considered. One plan woultT'Be to cori&f ruct a 14room school with facilities to accommodate all first, second and third grade students of the county. This would be constructed on the recently purchased land near Washington. Construction costs would run in the neighborhood of $488,000. A second plan considered is the construction of a 30room school on this same site to accommodate all elementary children in the county. Cost of this structure would run $783,000. An exception was made in the sub-division rulings to allow the construction of a parsopage by Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville on the lot next to the church.
