Licenses On Sale
Hunting, fishing and trapping licenses for the 1968-69 fiscal year have been distributed to license agents and clerks throughout Virginia and may now be purchased, according to Game Commission Fiscal Division Chief Sam J. Putt. The new licenses are not valid, however, until July 1. Fishing with an expired license is one of the most common violations each July so it behooves sportsmen, especially anglers, to get their new licenses before their old ones expire. Licenses are sold by over 300 county circuit and city corporation court clerks and agents strategically located throughout the state. A listing of places where hunting, fishing and trapping licenses may be obtained, is available from most sporting goods stores or from the Game Commission’s Richmond office. These agents also sell National Forest stamps, trout licenses and big game licenses.
National Park Lets Contract on Drive Repair
The National Park Service of the Department of Interior has awarded a $53,000 contract to Apinter & Mundy of Elkton, Va. for highway repair on Skyline Drive, Announcement of the contract came from the office of Senator William B. Spong, Jr. Effective date of the contract was June 12, 1968. Work to be done is the resealing of approximately eight miles of Skyline Drive with Type S-5 hot bituminous concrete from Thornton’s Gap south in Rappahannock and I>age counties.
