Among legislation passed by the 1968 General Assembly was a law concerning the depth of tread on tires. Wallace Russell, right, of Russell Brothers, Flint Hill, measures the tread on tires of the patrol car of Trooper J. B. Willis. Tread is measured with a gauge calibrated in thirty-seconds of an inch. Another law passed allows an official inspection station to make a charge of $2 for each inspection.
