Lifetime Hunting,
Fishing License
Virginia senior citizens will be able to purchase a lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping license on and after July 1, Game Commission Executive Director Chester F. Phelps announced. The license will be embossed with the State Seal and laminated in plastic for durability. Only residents 70 years of age and over will be entitled to purchase the $5 lifetime license. It will satisfy all Virginia hunting, fishing and trapping license requirements except for County Damage stamps, National Forest stamps and daily permits. Residents in this age group are currently entitled to fish without a license anywhere in the State, but they may only hunt and trap without a license on private lands in their county of residence. The lifetime license serves as a ready means of identification for these folks and extends these privileges statewide without reservation. It is also somewhat of a status symbol because only surviving 70 years in the battle of life makes one eligible. All of the laminated licenses will be issued from the Richmond office.
