Clatterbuck Flips
Ford in Washington
An auto overturned in the I1 Town of Washington last Friday injuring the lone occupant and totaling the vehicle. Lonnie Gene Clatterbuck of Sperryville was the operator of the 1965 Ford traveling west, which turned over after rounding the sharp curve in front of the Merrill Motor Company. The car skidded, struck the sidewalk and flipped. Clatterbuck was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal, where he was treated for severe lacerations of his head and released. He was charged with reckless driving. Trooper J. B. Willis investigated the crash.
Two collisions occurred Saturday night between Washington and Sperryville on Route 211, but no injury resulted.
The first happened about 11:50 p.m. two and two tenths milesi east of Sperryville and involved a 1966 Chrysler owned and operated by Carroll Vincent Judd of Falls Church, heading west, and a 1965 Dodge owned and operated by Norwood Paul Wickham of Front Royal. According to Trooper Willis, Juddi veered into the wrong traffic lane and struck the Dodge. Damage to the Chrysler was estimated at $25. and at S250 to the Dodge. Judd was charged with reckless driving.
At 12:15 a.m. two and a half' miles west of Washington a hit! and run crash occurred. James! Arthur Freeman of Washington, Va. was operating a 1969 Chevelle owned by Rufus Randolph Frye of Boston, Va. and was leaving Pine Knott Inn and heading west when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle which failed to stop. The crash is still under investigation, said | Trooper Willis.
