According to the latest estimate, there are now some 167 unmarried men locally for every 100 unmarried women, considerably more than in most communities.
Elsewhere in the United States, the ratio is 124 per 100 and, in the State of Virginia 139.
Such are the figures, according to data released by the Department of Commerce in connection with its annual report on marital and family status in the United States.
The findings are that the proportion of single men to single women is quite different in some sections of the country than in others. In many localities, in fact, the surplus is in the other direction.
