Recently I received a letter from a brother in which was a newspaper clipping. The clipping told of a tornado that swept through an area where I lived as a lad. The tornado did quite a lot of damage, but the whole impact, to my mind, was about the damage done to my old home church.
One of my first memories of the old church was when I was a tiny tot. There was a picnic, a very large crowd, notables from far and near, some gray uniforms of the Confederacy, a few blue of the Union, friends now. The pastor was a Col. Henderson. It amazed me to see these old soldiers, with their arms around each other, crying like lost children. I kept hearing the word SESQUI-CENTENNIAL, in my ignorance its meaning was lost on me. My parents later explained its meaning to me,
