Horrors, shudders, squeal and all that kind of stuff. I’m really going off at the deep end this time. My wife came home the other day and told me that someone had killed a big black snake down near the mail box. I remarked that I hoped it was not MY black snake, the one that had protected us all these years from rattlers and other venomous types. She indicated that snakes were snakes in her book, that the only good snakes were dead snakes. Of course she took

offense when I inferred that that was a stupid attitude.
