The consideration of the Supervisors holding all meetings at night was not passed as only Norman Wilbur and Mrs. Betty Coates voted in the affirmative. The request had been made by several organizations who felt that citizens might be able to attend night meetings. However, the majority of the Board members felt that attendance would not be great, (only 3 people attended the budget hearing that day and all left before the meeting was completed) and that it would limit them timewise.
Accounts were paid before adjournment.
Other business to come before the special meeting yesterday morning was the approval of the budget with the levy set at $4.10 and salaries of county officials as set by the Compensation Board were approved as follows: treasurer, $6,400 and his office help at $4,800; sheriff, $5,830, deputy $4,580, secretary, $2,340, jailer, $3,381; Commissioner of Revenue $5,800 and office help $4,800; Commonwealth’s Attorney $5,000 and secretary $2,200. One secretary serves both the sheriff’s office and the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
