HALL OF VALOR — The famed “New Market Cadets" of Virginia Military Institute will be memorialized 'by a new museum now under construction at New Markets This artist's conception of the building, with its central core of “weathering steel" wafe released today by the New Market Battlefield Park, for which the museum will serve as a visitor center. The architect is Marcellus Wright & Partners of Richmond. The 247 VMI cadets created a legend of youthful courage by their heroic charge during the May IS, 1864, struggle for the Shenandoah Valley. The Hall of Valor will have motion pictures and exhibits on not only the Battle of New Market but the entire Civil War in Virginia. There will be brief references to the developing overall strategy of sides. A contract for the building was let this week with Thorington Construction Co. of Richmond for $680,000. A spokesman said exhibits and other expenditures will bring the total cost of the project to a million dollars.
