Letter To Editor
Editor:
The Sperryville telephone subscribers have been swallowed up by Buckner, Criglersviile, Culpeper, Gordonsville, Louisa, Madison, Mineral, Orange and Unionville, not any fault of theirs. I am wondering if the above subscribers approve being consolidated in the telephone directory. For instance, when the areas were separated there were nine names that begin with K, in the old directory, now there are 319 K’s. Suppose you know a Jenkins in Sperryville exchange, but are not sure you know his first name and address, by looking through the Sperryville subscribers in the old directory there were 29. The new directory has 289.
I was informed by the Telephone Company at Culpeper, that a canvass was made and the majority of the subscribers approved the consolidation of all areas under their jurisdiction. I have yet to find the first person that has not expressed their disapproval of the present directory.
Yours truly,
L.J. Kilby
