A Pre-school Conference wu held for ell Warren-Reppehennock teachers on Thursday, August 27, 1970 at Warm County High 8chool in Front Royal. Following the conference the first meeting of the Rappahannock County Education Association was held in the Library of Warren County High School. President Dennis B. Wingfield presided. The new officers and committee heads were introduced. These persons were elected and selected at the close of the 1969-70 school year: Officers: President - Dennis B. Wingfield; Vice President - Mrs. Frances Lyne; President Elect - John Penny; Secretary - Mrs. Kathryn Pomeroy; Treasurer • Mrs. Corinna Fountain. Committees: Political International Relations - Mrs. Jewelle Magarity; Federal Legislative - Roger Fine ham; Legislative - Mrs. Dor othy Butlei Insurance - Dean Hahn; Membership - Miss Mary Ann Morgan; Personnel Policies - B. Gail Titchenell; Professional Rights and Responsibilities - George Patterson; Program - Mrs. Frances Lyne; Communications and Public Relations - Mrs. Betsy Blauvelt; VEA Reporter - Mrs. Christine Johnston; Salary - Ed Gray; Teacher Education and Professional Standards Mrs. Lucia Kilby; Welfare - Mias Jane Coleman.
There was a4 discussion and explanation of the dues for the Virginia Education Association, the Rappahannock County Education Association and the National Education Association, and the importance of teachers belonging to these professional organizations.
Delegates were chosen for the VEA Convention to be held in Richmond on Oct. 28-31. Hose elected were Miss Mary Ann Morgan, John Penny and alternate Ed Gray. Both the President and Vice President are automatically delegates.
The next meeting of the Rappahannock County Education Association will be held in November.
