The Culpeper office has just enjoyed a record year of homebuilding and home improvement through credit services of the Farmers Home Administration, the agency’s County Supervisor, J. W. Peck, Jr., said todiay. Mr. Peck reported that $1,136,680.00 was channeled into the Culpeper office through rural housing loans for better town and country housing during the fiscal year ended June 30. Loans the previous year totaled 44 for $585,110.00 which included $164,000.00 for rural rental housing units. The Culpeper office includes the Counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.
Farmers Home, a Department of Agriculture agency, supplements all other housing credit available in towns of up to 5,500 population and the rural countryside. Its services in this unit the past year included 87 loans totaling $1,136,680.00 for construction, purchase and improvement of individual family homes. The loans provided better housing for an estimated five hundred or more people in these five counties.
“The record for fiscal J (19,70 means that our housing service was 100 percent greater the past year,” Mr. Peck said. “This uptrend was directly opposite to the general national downtrend in housing activity.”
Mr. Peck added that the year begun July 1 appears certain to topple the record set in fiscal 1970. The agency is geared to virtually double its housing services again this year, with $1.4 billion in authority nationally to insure home loans for families of low and moderate income.
