Postal Service Day
Scheduled July 1st
July 1st has been designated Postal Service Day to commemorate the official inauguration of the United States Postal Service; to bring the general public in closer contact with this service and to realize how to help the Postal Service better serve the community and individuals. To help make Postal Service I Day a special and unusual event, those visiting their post office will receive a free souvenir envelope decorated with the new Postal Service seal and a Postal Service booklet on request.
A new 8 cent stamp bearing the postal emblem will be issued July 1 in every post office across the nation.
