Cadet Baumgardner Named to Dean’s List

A total of 225 cadets of the Virginia Military Institute were named to the Dean’s List at the end of the second semester. To be eligible for the academic honor, a cadet must have an average of 3.0 (on a 4.0) for all subjects with no grade below 2.0. The graduating class and the second (junior) class each had 74 named to the list. There were 40 third classmen and 37 fourth classmen (freshmen) selected.

Cadete Douglas K. Baumgardner, of Washington, Va., is among the rising second classmen named to the academic honor list. He has also been declared distinguished in general merit, an achievement which entitles him to wear the traditional gold stars of academic honor. An economics major at VMI, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Baumgardner, of Route 1, Washington. Before entering VMI he was graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria.
