Damage was set at $200 to the Dodge and at $400 to the Chrysler The following morning July 18, on Route 522 north of Massies Corner a car struck and killed a bull about 12:30 a.m. Charles Edward Folks of Riverston struck and killed the animal owned by Tom Lee. Before Folks was able to get out of his car, a 69 Plymouth, and signal traffic, a 66 Dodge operated by Robert Stanley Wicks of Charlottesville, hit the bull again. Estimated damage to the Folks car was $200 and to the Wicks car $600.
Old Spectacles, Anyone?
Rappahannock Lions Club plans to participate in the Sperryville Firemen’s Parade on Thursday, July 22, at 7 p.m. and takes this opportunity to request of those that may attend to bring old eyeglasses (either lens or frames - or both). Lions Club members will be available to accept the spectacles which will be used in the Lions sight conservation and work for the visually handicapped. You—whose eyes are reading these words have a priceless gift of God. Many are living today in a world of darkness. Some sightless people can be helped by a corneal transplant operation. Anyone twenty-one or more can pledge his eyes by the simple act of signing a donor card. Pledge cards are available through any Lions Club member.
