Lots of Muscle
The common earthworm (Lumbricus terrestris) comes equipped with tiny clusters of bristles on each segment. The bristles serve as hooks as the worm extends and shortens its body and so propels itself.
For its size, an earthworm is amazingly strong. A worm weighing just one-thirtieth of an ounce can move a two-ounce stone-60 times its own weight.
