Mr. and Mrs. Cengez Orak of Ankara, Turkey were visitors last week of Mr. and Mrs. Janies Swindler in Sperryville. The two families were neighbors when the Swindlers were serving with the U.S. Air Force in Turkey,, so when the Oraks decided to vacation in the States, they contacted their friends and spent several days. Above are Cengez Orak, Phyllis Swindler, Sevin Orak and Jimmie Swindler beside the huge brass mongol the Swindlers brought with them from Turkey. The mongol is a combination stove and chafing dish. The bottom of the container holds hot coals and a bowl in the top holds food. Every home in Turkey uses these ornate solid brass heaters.
