Deborah Lynn Barron has been selected as the DAR Good Citizen of Rappahannock County High School for 1972. A life-long resident of the county, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Barron of Viewtown. Miss Barron, a senior at RCHS, is the president of the National Honor Society, Associate Editor of the annual, a member of the Pep Club, and a member of the high school Dress Review Board. In add it ion to her school activities, she is a member of Rapphannock County Youth Club.
Each year a senior girl, who exemplifies the following qualifications to an outstanding degree, is selected as the Good Citizen: Dependability, which includes truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality; service, which encompasses cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others; leadership, incorporating personality, self control, and ability to assume responsibility; and- patriotism, including unselfish interest in family, school community and the nation.
The Culpeper Minutemen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsor this contest annually, when a Good Citizen is chosen from Madison, Culpeper and Rappahannock high schools. The competition continues on to a district and national level.
Miller Files Second
Suit on Election
A suit has been filed by Newbill Miller in Rappahannock County Circuit Court to have the results of the November election for the Hampton District Board of Supervisors seat set aside. Mr. Miller had already filed a suit for a recount of the election in which he lost by one vote. This suit along with the one for recount will be heard December 17.
The suit names at least eleven persons who were ineligible to cast ballots in Hampton election district. A panel of three judges will hear the cases.
