company lands addlands added up to 28,544,400 seedlings (50 percent of the total), with pulp and paper companies accounting for 23,548,550, lumber and other woodusing industries being credited with 4,465,850, and non-forest industries making up the remaining 530,000.

State, federal, and municipal or county agencies were responsible for planting 2,330,570 of the total688,020 in state forests, 233,700 by other state agencies, and 1,089,600 on federal lands. City and county governments, schools, civic clubs, and public organizations also planted 319,250.

The Virginia Division of Forestry was responsible for growing and distributing 43,469,160 seedlings. All Division of Forestry trees were grown at the state nurseries in New Kent and Augusta counties. The Continental Can .Company nursery near Chester produced 10 million loblolly seedlings, and the remaining 3,343,450 were obtained from the North Carolina Forest Service (2.8), the Catawba Timber Company nursery in Tennessee, the Maryland Department of Forests and Parks, and private nurseries.

Approximately 20 will be offered the position of Game Warden Trainee. These will complete 4 weeks cf training at a special school and serve a year apprenticeship before being accepted as regular wardens.
