The Good Book says, “God made the two great luminaries, the greater to rule the day and the smaller to rule the night, (as an afterthought) the stars also.” I was talking to a person not long ago who thought there was a purpose in the afterthought, that till after the flood the stars were not visible to occupants on earth; because of the vapor arising from a cooling planet. That at some time the sudden condensation of all that vapor caused the deluge. Could be.

It is the purpose of this SEZ to consider the Smaller Luminary. There have been many songs written about her, ‘the light of lovers.’ In a recent issue of my news paper I read this article, “A Soviet geophysicist says that the gravity of the moon causes the surface of the earth to rise and fall each day approximately fifteen inches.” Mama would plant her garden and Papa his fields by the moon. Both did well, Papa was considered to be a good farmer. I was discussing this with a wise old scholar. He said, “If the moon can effect the tides of the sea, certain cycles pecular to women, even the birth of babies, it is not unreasonable to assume that it would have some effect on plant life.” I’ve known about the tides for a long time, now the undulations of the land surface of the earth. I’ve seen planting demonstrated to my satisfaction. A gynecologist could confirm the birth and cycle bit, I don’t know. I do know that nature (GOD) working its will does have a pecular effect on our plant. Maybe some will say it has had its effect on me, lunatic? OK. But what is it The Book says about hiding things from the wise and revealing them to the simple? Whatever you believe in relation to earths satellite, go out some night and look at it; from the smallest crescent to complete fullness, and remember this, God made it and it is GOOD.
