1. Do your shopping at reliable stores. Transient sellers and peddlers are not around after Christmas to listen to complaints.
2. Always take along a shopping list. Group items likely to be found in the same section and this will help save needless steps.
3. If in doubt, don’t buy. Don’t be rushed into buying by high pressure.
4. Buy with care, read labels, be sure of the correct size, color and other requirements. Keep your sales slip or receipts.
5. Don’t carry large sums of money when shopping in crowded areas. At all times, be certain your purse is tightly closed and in hand. Never put your handbag down on a counter when inspecting merchandise.
6. If possible shop during the week. There will be less confusion in the stores.
7. If you take your car with you, put your gifts in the trunk and lock your car.
8. Find out if there is a deadline for returning items you buy and if there are special rules for returning them.
9. It would be best to examine Christmas purchases before Christmas so that any claim for defect or damage may be made
