Madison’s thirty-nine year president is from Bluff City, Tennessee. He received his bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University and was awarded both his Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Illinois. He was associate professor of economics and assistant to the provost at the University of Mississippi before joining the staff of Memphis State. Dr. Carrier came to Madison in January of this year from Memphis State University where he served as the university’s academic vice president.
