Despite a still sluggish economy, total personal income in /irginia in 1971 is expected to surpass last year’s all-time high of >16.8 billion by $1.4 billion, according to Virginia Employment Commission estimates. J. Gordon Gifford, editor of the VEC monthly magazine Economic Indicators, estimates that Virginia’s rate of increase for personal income from 1970 to 1971 vill be 8.3 percent, compared to f.4 percent for the nation as a ■vhole.
