2nd Pheasant Season

Initial, and as yet incomplete reports indicate that for the second year in succession the t w o-d a y experimenta pheasant was a success. At this early stage, comparison of tht 1971 season with the final results of the season in 1970 is not possible; however, tht signs are promising with indicators such as the 50 birds harvested in Loudoun County last year and the 41 reported so far. In 1970, 13 birds wert taken in Charles City County as compared to 9 thus far for 1971. During 1970 in Rockingham County 18 birds were bagged. That total has already been exceeded by 8 for an incomplete tally of 26. Final result of the first season was a total harvest of 223 birds, only 8 of which bore bands. This indicated that the remainder of the birds had reproduced in the wild. 2 pheasants were checked in Rappahannock County, last year however there were none this year.
