Do you have hay or corn for sale? Are you looking for hay or corn to buy? Well give us a ring at the Extension Office 675-3619 and we will see what we can do to help. At the suggestion of several farmers, we will try running a local county clearing house, through the Extension Office, for corn and hay. It will work something like this. Lets say that you have 300 bales of 1st cutting mixed orchard grass and red clover hay of average quality for sale. You could call our office and give us this information along with your name, address and phone number. Or, for example, if you are looking for 50 barrels of corn and 200 bales of timothy hay, you could call and let us know. We will keep a clip board haning by the phone listing current buyers and sellers. Our job will be to place the buyer and seller in contact with each other and in no way will we become involved with the price. December is a good month to take soil samples; individually identify your cows and calves and start a simple record keeping system; prune orchards; control cattle lice - either spray on or pour on; fertilize pastures; and to place springing cows and heifers in a separate close by field.
