NEWSPAPERS all around the Seventh District have been coming out with “endorsement” editorials in the past few weeks, but please don’t look for one in this space. Whatever else we may be accused of, let it be noted that publishing pompous, presumptuous pronouncements instructing the voting public on what candidate or another is superior, is not one of our shortcomings.
Oh, we’ll admit that the temptation is strong. Along with most people, we’re convinced that we’re right and those who disagree with us are wrong. And the newspaper people who argue that they are qualified to issue “endorsements” because of their superior access to knowledge about the candidates and the issues, have a certain amount of logic on their side.
