MRS. JOAN MAHAN, secretary of the State Board of Elections, has cited a new requirement under the Constitution and Code of Virginia effective for the first time at the end of this year pertaining to the cancellation of the registration of any voter who has not voted at least once during four consecutive calendar years.

Mrs. Mahan said that Section 24. 1-59 of the Code of Virginia requires the general registrars, as of December 31, 1974, and annually thereafter, to purge the name of any voter of the Commonwealth who has not voted at least once during four consecutive calendar vears from the registration books.
