THREE pedestrians were injured near Sperryville during the weekend in two separate traffic accidents. One occured Saturday and the other on Sunday.
Barbara Ann Brown and Brenda Ann Brown, 4-year-old twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brown of Sperryville, were injured when they were struck by a 1970 Chevrolet convertible driven by Lonnie Atkins of Luray.
According to Trooper R. A. Baines, the children apparently stepped into the path of the approaching vehicle on Route 211 west of Sperryville. They were taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Sperryville Rescue Unit with bruises and abrasions and possible broken ribs. Brenda also sustained internal injuries.
In the same area Sunday, an 11 year-old boy, Thomas Briscoe of Ryans Road, Md., sustained a broken leg when he was struck by a 73 Buick operated by Clarence Kemp Jr. of Landover, Md.
Trooper J.A. Watson reported that Briscoe was attempting to cross the highway in the extremely heavy Sunday afternoon traffic when he was hit. He was taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital by Sperryville Rescue Squad. No charges were placed against the operator of the vehicle in either incident.
